Ms. Kim L. Johnson
Kim Johnson assists Mont Vista Capital clients with strategic decisions relating to offtake agreements and associated risk management contractual arrangements. She also develops investment banking relationships with strategic buyers/sellers of alternative energy projects and CleanTech companies.
Ms. Johnson was co-founder and COO of Tyr Energy in Overland Park, Kansas. Tyr Energy is now an asset management firm which manages in excess of $3.5 billion in energy assets. Tyr Energy’s affiliate, Tyr Capital LLC, has acquired and manages power generation assets and has an enterprise value of $800 million. Ms. Johnson sold her interest on the company in 2005. Itochu International Inc. purchased the balance of the company from the other co-founder in 2006.
Prior to her tenure at Tyr Energy, Kim was Executive Vice President at Aquila Merchant Services, Inc., where she created and developed energy joint ventures, partnerships and other similar arrangements throughout North America. Kim was responsible for working with the senior leadership of utilities, IPPs and trading companies to devise comprehensive risk assessment and management plans. Kim has also held management positions with Shell Trading Gas and Power Co, Catex Vitol Gas Co. and Coral Energy in Houston, TX and Boston, MA. Kim is a member of Edison Electric Institute’s policy committee on supply.
