Dr. Scott Sills, PhD
Dr. Scott Sills brings valuable depth to the firm's Technical Advisory Committee. Dr. Sills holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash., and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware in Newark, Del. Dr. Sills currently is retained by Micron Technology, Inc. of Boise, Idaho, one of the world's leading providers of advanced semiconductor solutions. In this capacity, he is responsible for process developments critical to the fabrication of nanoscale electronic devices for memory and optical sensor applications.
Dr. Sills’ previous experience includes ten years of scientific R&D and engineering experience in the nanotechnology sector and the chemical manufacturing industry. While a post-doctoral fellow with the IBM Corporation at their Almaden Research Center and as a visiting scientist at the University of Washington's Chemical Engineering Department, his efforts aimed to drive fundamental scientific developments toward viable nanotechnologies. In the commodity chemical sector, Dr. Sills spent four years with FMC Corporation in the Phosphorus Chemicals Division and one year with EI DuPont de Nemours & Co. in the Reaction Engineering Department. Both firms are diversified chemical companies with leading positions in agricultural, industrial and consumer markets. In these roles, he was responsible for process design and technical support for chemical manufacturing plants; risk assessment and hazards analysis; and project management and economic feasibility studies.
